Shape the Future of the CryptoAlienBabes Community With StarCommand DAO
Over the past five years, the cryptoverse has seen a rise in DAOs including the likes of DuckDAO, MakerDAO, UniSwap, and OlympusDAO. But what is a DAO and what does it mean for you?
A DAO is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization; community-driven and member-directed with no central chain of command. A DAO’s goals and values are created by the community, for the community, giving members the chance to have a say in a true democracy — a far cry from the makeup of traditional, centralized organizations such as FTSE 500 companies.
By holding a CryptoAlienBabe NFT, you are automatically a member of StarCommand DAO — the governance name for the community of CAB holders. StarCommand’s mission, as defined by CAB founders ‘Uncle’ Crypto Nut and Starseed, is to be ‘a self-sustaining, charitable DAO which transparently shares opportunities and education to achieve financial freedom for our community.’
To achieve this mission, StarCommand is benefitting from the expert guidance of the CABs server’s moderator team, and Crypto Nut. To date, the CABs wallet has had donations of 10ETH, 55 CABs NFTs, one Summer NFT from Equinox, and one Woofpack NFT, totaling a value of over $100,000 USD as a starting point for investment and self-sustainability. Included amongst those CABs are two Gassia NFTs, recipients of a free Moonboots Golden Grenade NFT, and complimentary MB1 Genesis NFTs, adding further value as well as gifting the DAO exclusive access to private investment opportunities. This treasury is held in a Gnosis safe account — a tool commonly used by DAOs.
The DAO recently authorized a ‘quick response’ investment team, who took part in ‘Uncle’ Nut’s last call on $SHDW. With this action, the DAO has already seen a return on the initial investment, and there are further plans to increase that return. With our GG access, the ‘quick response’ team is in prime position to see exponential growth of the DAO’s funds.
A DAO doesn’t have a familiar, top-down structure; the community is the leadership. As outlined in one of our earlier articles, the community takes proposals through a vote on Snapshot.org, another widely used DAO tool. Each CAB carries the weight of one vote, which means that there are a total of 1,111 votes, minus the 55 CABs held by the DAO wallet itself.
Your vote counts towards the future direction of the DAO, as well as the future benefits to members. Examples of current, previous, and ongoing proposals include:
- Governance
- Collaboration with other projects
- Investment strategies for Equinox launches, using the Summer NFT
In addition to proposals, discussions, and voting, the CABs project is starting to attract attention from other projects as potential partnerships. This could mean airdrops for members, rewards for the DAO, or even early access to exclusive features within other communities.
But to continue growing, your DAO needs you. Motivated members can even volunteer to join the research teams that assess potential projects and collaborators.
The foundational values that both the CABs project and StarCommand are built on, also include giving back to the community. What this looks like for StarCommand will continue to be fluid, but initial discussions have mentioned providing educational resources, investment opportunities, charitable donations, and more.
This is just the beginning.
As the DAO evolves, we will begin to see returns on investment and a natural growth of the fund. Depending on the wishes of the community, this could then see donations to charitable causes, investment in educational opportunities for members, or even regular stipends/dividends to CAB Holders.
But ultimately, the point of a DAO means that what happens next is decided by you: the CABs community.
